Stephenson Way Academy and Nursery School

Following the announcement on January 4th of a National Lockdown, all schools in England are closed to all pupils, except vulnerable children and those of key workers. ALL children will return to school on Monday 8th March 2021

4th January 2021: Following the announcement late tonight by the government, SWANS will be closed for ALL pupils tomorrow. This is to allow staff to be able to safely put plans in place which cannot feasibly be done at such short notice. We will be in touch tomorrow with the parents and carers of key worker/ vulnerable children, with a view to hopefully inviting those children to return to school from Wednesday.
I realise this will cause inconvenience and anxiety to many of you and I am deeply sorry for this.
However, I hope you will understand that this is a government decision which has given schools and parents no notice whatsoever and as such, we need to be able to safely organise huge changes without warning or planning, thus our need for whole school closure tomorrow.
We will keep you updated with Remote Learning plans (which can be accessed on our new school website at
Any parents/ carers who are Key Workers and require their child to be in school due to having no alternative childcare arrangements and who fit the criteria according to the updated guidance below, please contact school by 11am tomorrow to let us know if you require your child to attend school from Wednesday 6th January.
